Rear Cross Traffic Alert

Wife gloated yesterday in supermarket parking lot that her Kia Niro PHEV has better rear cross traffic alert than the 21 GLE350. The Kia has an audible beep and shows a directional arrow on screen when car is in reverse. MB only seems to show an icon on the dash. If looking in rear view mirror, visually looking rear and/or looking at rear camera, there is virtually no chance to notice a small on-screen icon.

Yes MB don't seem sometimes to have given a lot of thought to positioning of some warning symbols etc.
In my previous GLC the graduated series of lights for the front parking sensors were in a position where you had to take your eyes off the road / windscreen to check them while the lights in my VW are on top of the dash in my line of sight!
Similarly the lights for the rear sensors are poorly positioned and not obviously visible in the rear view mirror.

I will agree the the rear cross traffic alert is not one of Mercedes strengths. My 2016 Buick had a much better system.

Yes. I am hearing it loud and clear here. "You could have two Kia's for the price of that one Mercedes with inferior safety features."

That's interesting, I swear that mine shows a red triangle in the camera view but also makes a loud warning tone. Maybe that's because I have the parking assist package that includes cross traffic alerts?

I have the parking assist package and still don't see anything. Will check it out tomorrow when I take the beast out again
