What is this for?
Can someone tell me exactly what this is.
Manual makes no mention that I can find, I believe it might have something to do with active distance assist distronic but none of my vehicles have it. After I start driving the car disappears.

My Audi has something close to this that is lane keep assist. Curious to know as well, our GLE should be in very soon.

That display shows the setting you have on your Distronic Cruise Control (Active Distance Assist). It's the distance that you have chosen to follow the car ahead.
You change that distance by twisting the knob on the end of the Cruise stalk.

No cruise stalk on my GLE, rocker switch on steering wheel adjusts the distance but I haven't seen figures next to it just 1,2 or 3 lines.

The screen you have is basically a simplified view of this
As for the cruise control, it is controlled by the buttons on the left side of the steering wheel.
Depend on your car option, it will be one of the following

Yes I get it but my car doesn't have distronic or active lane assist so not sure why it offers that screen. Thanks for the explanation.

I am not entirely sure why, but it could be one of those design where Mercedes uses the same software for cars with and without the feature on the startup test, and it just light up every single options on start up for diagnostic. The older car will most likely have a different dash (or same dash with different "layout"), but since the 2020 GLE is all software based for the cluster, it might just "lid up" as part of the start up diagnostic.

And to the OP, the light you posted is weird. I’ve never seen it like that on and MB. It looks more like a warning light than the actual distronic setting. Especially since you said you don’t have distronic or lane keep.
