2021 GLE 450

Driver camera

Whenever I seen on the news a story of a crash involving a Tesla, often there was an image of the driver, showing they were distracted, sleeping, or didn't have their hands on the wheel.

Does anyone know if the Mercedes, specifically the GLE has any driver facing cameras? Any other privacy concerns?

That's right. Ours is dependent on keeping hands on wheel. Take hands off wheel and it will revert to manual control within a minute.

BTW I have never seen a photo of a distracted driver in one of these articles. Can you share some links to these articles? I would love to see that. It raises the question who has the authority to release such a photo to the media?

I don't recall any specific ones. I do remember seeing some though as I thought I would not want my car providing evidence against me. This was about Tesla's though. I don't know all of the reasons they have them, but I know they do. My question was if Mercedes also had a driver facing camera for any reason. I do not have any reason to think there do have a camera, but I just wanted to put the question out there.

Umm I always thought attention assist uses camera to monitor driver? Or maybe it uses some kind of sensor? But I would think camera is more effective?
