head up display - can it be turned off and tied to seat memory

Hi guys - quick question as we evaluate the Technology Package. Specifically as far as the Head Up Display - my wife is not a fan. Can it be set to off and tied to her seat memory settings, so she wouldn't have to turn it off every time?

Thanks in advance!

The Head-Up display can definitely be turned off, and yes, the setting can be stored in each of the 3 seat memory buttons.

It is tied to profiles. My wife doesn’t like the hud and has it off in her profile that she uses when she drives. The profile is tied to her key fob. My profile has the HUD on. Profiles control seat position, presets, etc. when I jump in and MBUX starts, it shows what profile is selected by our pictures. If her profile is selected, all I have to do is select mine by touching my pic. Everything then resets to my setting in a matter of a few seconds.

The 3 seat memory positions are also tied to the profile selected—I.e., thememory settings buttons are different for my profile, and my wife’s. You can set up profiles online (you can upload photo icons if desired) and it takes a few days for it to be available in the car.

AFAIK the GLE does not have key-dependent settings?

Greg,

You are correct, profiles are not linked to the smart key. In my QX60, the memory settings (radio, seats, climate, etc) are linked to a specific key fob (one for me, one for my wife). It adjusts to the first key fob it picks up. I've been under the false impression the GLE works in the same way. I just verified in the manual it does not.

That said, The HUD is tied to the memory buttons, and also to the profile selection. However using profiles will control more functions. Here's the pertinent info out of the GLE manual:

Memory Button Details:

Profile Setting Details:
