Connected Traffic Light Services

Wasn't sure if this option was available before under "manage services" - but has anyone actually seen this in action? Is it actually in service?

I just got an alert on my phone that said “services have been deactivated” but the alert didn’t show what it was. I went into the app and the only thing that shows as ‘deactivated’ is Connected Traffic Light Services. I don’t even know what that is. Any ideas? And any idea why I just got that alert out of no where?

It is supposedly a service that maybe able to time the red lights and how long you might be waiting on it to turn green. It was discussed in another thread and I don’t think it has gone “live” yet.

Audi has offered this for a while, and yes as you are approaching a traffic light and while waiting it shows you how long for the light to change. However, this only works in a handful of places. It requires integration with the local traffic management to publish the information to the cloud. It also only works if you have a good data connection. Las Vegas was the first city to offer it. Out here in Cali it''s still only some downtown intersections in Palo Alto, CA I believe. I think parts of Portland supports it, too. The experience is marginal. Audi owners report delays with the information being completely off, or not working at all even in cities where it's supposed to be enabled. This won't be very useful for the majority until all cities have connected traffic lights.

Same - I got the notification that something was deactivated and went to the Mercedes Me site and just turned it on. Haven't gone for a drive yet, but sounds like its not active either.

Exact same thing just happened to me. I turned it back on.

Interesting... I got a notification that said services deactivated. Went into the web site and showed Infotainment deactivated. Turned it back on so we'll see if this recurs. I didn't even see Connected Traffic Light services. Will check again...

Yup, happened to me as well. Also realized there are more settings in the app now than before (i.e. light settings, date/time format, lock settings, all now available in the app). It looks like the Connected Traffic Light Services stay activated this time around, instead of reverting back to deactivated like other features did back in Dec.

The infrastructure is not there yet. There are trials in a few areas.

Thanks for the post.
Unfortunately, if you actually put this into practice and slow for the anticipated red light before it changes, somebody will invariably cut in front of you and your "responsible, fuel-saving ploy" will be thwarted. Hit the brakes!
I'd say Omit that function and save a silicon chip. They're needed for more important things, like seat heaters.
