AMG GLE 63S

After such a long wait, finally took delivery of this vehicle.

Loaded with every option except the driver’s assistance package.

So happy with how this spec came out. And the steering wheel cover is leather now on the most recent production runs, which was a pet peeve of mine when this car first came out.

Coming from a 2014 ML350 Bluetec, this thing might as well be a spaceship.

That is such a mean looking machine!! Bet it sounds thunderous! Any reason on skipping the Driver Assistance package? Just curious.

I started a conversation with the salesperson in December 2019 lol. At the time I was planning on getting a GLE 450. Then I heard the GLE 53 was coming out and decided to wait for that. After a bunch of waiting I decided screw it I'm just gonna get the 63S. They actually got my vehicle in months ago but they forgot the night package. So I ended up completely re-ordering and they threw in the $4000 rim upgrade for free to keep my business after that mistake was made. So it's been a year long journey, but was definitely worth the wait.

I just knew I would never use it. I've had similar packages in 2 other vehicles and barely ever used it. Even with Tesla, which has the best autonomous driving system right now, I still don't find myself using it much. I just don't think any autopilot system is quite there yet. Hopefully one day soon I'll be able to get in a car and go to sleep and let it drive me around town.

This five month wait is killing me, plus my trade-in lost another year of value.

Wow, this is looking hot! Playing with the colors online I never really paid much attention to grey, it's looks only a 'meh' on the web-site. But IRL this black on grey is popping and looking sharp as all hell!! Congratulations!

Yea the online configurator really doesn't do this color justice. Also, the night package looks extremely bland online with the selenite grey, but in person it looks so good. I think you could go either way with Selenite Grey but the night package just looks really sinister on it. Definitely a must if you're getting the black rims.

Acoustic Comfort Package?

That looks amazing! Congratulations! I was hoping I could ask a quick question as we are in the process of purchasing and the one the dealer has available is without the acoustic comfort package but has eve to thing else we want - is there considerable sound dampening in yours (if you have that package) or as others have mentioned is it really dampening of wind / other car noise but not the tire noise due to the performance tires used?

Since I haven't driven a version of this car without the Acoustic Comfort Package, I don't really have a way of comparing. All I can say is I find it to be really quiet in the cabin. The only time I notice the noise is if I put it into sport mode and you hear the exhaust. Otherwise, if I'm just coasting around town in comfort mode, this car seems to drive really quiet. My main reason for getting the acoustic comfort package is I really wanted the upgraded speaker package to be able to shine with as little background noise as possible and in that regard I'm really happy with it. But again, I don't have much of a comparison. Maybe it's pretty quiet even without the acoustic comfort package. If the dealer has one available, your best bet would be to do a test drive and see for yourself. But if you're doing a custom build I think it's a no brainer really. For a car at this price, you might as well load it up with every option available. I will say the one option I do regret getting was the Augmented Video Navigation. I really wanted to give the Mercedes navigation a chance but it really is trash. Just using Waze with Carplay only so the Augmented Video was a waste.

Also, I highly recommend the wheel and tire insurance. Although maybe it depends on where you live. But for me, after only ONE week of driving this car, I got nails in 2 tires. One of the back tires Mercedes said they only had 1 in the whole country available... They also said they're run flats so they couldn't be repaired. Total cost out of pocket would have been Almost $500 for each tire and another $500 for labor. Paid $0 thanks to the wheel and tire insurance so $1500 saved.

Thanks so much for the info (and glad you were able to save on those tires!). We aren’t ordering but looking at one the dealer just got in yesterday (which has almost everything except that acoustic package). Unfortunately this is the only 63s they have. There is only one in the province that has the acoustic package (but is missing half the other stuff we want) and it is in a neighbouring city so it’s probably best if we go and take that one for a spin down the highway and see if there really is a difference or not. Who knows, maybe my ears are just overly sensitive. Thanks again!

Congrats man. The selenite grey with night package and black rims suits this car nicely. Very sporty looking especially when you get inside with all that carbon fiber everywhere. Grey and silver are by the far the best colors Mercedes makes compared to any other automaker. I mean if you notice, most of their press cars or debut cars usually come out in grey or silver. Too bad they don't offer a matte option for the GLE, but you could probably wrap it to make it matte if that's your thing.

I have Acoustic now in my GLE 53 but didn’t in my GLE 450. IMO there is some difference in sound but the car is pretty quiet without it. I notice the cooler interior more but once again the car is fairly cool without it. We added a window treatment to our Audi to get comparable results with comparable exterior color.
Tire noise is not quieter.

I think I've read on here that at least one person was able to replace the "normal" side windows with the OEM acoustic version of the glass, so that may be doable for you with an out of pocket cost.

The acoustic package also includes the windshield (and some additional insulation in door panels?) which would be harder to do, but at least the windows could be an option if you have FOMO.
