Anyone know why the 53 would be rated for half the tow capacity of other models, even ones with almost 200 less lb/ft torque?
I saw the same thing, somewhere, so I verified before I ordered, that 7,700 is the actual tow rating for both the 53 SUV and Coupe.
Even though everybody including the Factory Rep said 7,700#, I was a bit on edge until the unit arrived and, sure enough, the tow rating is 7,700#. Good thing because I tow a 6,000# RV.
Nobody could explain where that 3,858 number came from. It's not a metric conversion. The Euro rating of 3,500kg is actually 7,716 lbs, which is often seen in the tow rating.
