Question about GLE53 AMG Dynamic Plus Package

Hello - I have a fully loaded GLE53 on order...fully loaded with the exception of the AMG Dynamic Plus package. I still have time to change my order and add this option, but before I do so I'd really like to hear thoughts on if it is worth the $5K. I wouldn't mind the performance brakes and would love the red calipers, but my wife doesn't want the full Dinamica steering wheel (it will be her daily). She thinks lotion/moisturizer on her hands will mess it up over time. My real question is how big of a difference maker is the Active Ride Control? Please note that my wife won't be tracking it nor attempting to take corners as if she was in an AMG GT.

Thoughts please - thanks in advance!

Jeremy

Based on your wife's needs, I would not waste the money!!

The D+ brakes are 6 piston and stop faster than the stock ones that are exactly the same brake that I had on my GLE 450.

The Active Ride Control reportedly makes for a softer ride than without. I haven’t driven one without ARC so can’t say with certainty. My 53 seems to ride similar to the 450 in S Mode, the C mode was too soft so that it bottomed out at times. (Just right now for my taste) I had 20’s on the 450 & 21’s on the 53 can be harsh at Max psi but good at the normal setting. Also there was too much sway in corners with the 450 in C mode. You don’t mention tire selection but the 20’s are more forgiving on sharp bumps/potholes than the 21 & 22’s. If you are going to drive it much you will appreciate the D+ in corners since the car stays flat.
The Dinamica is different but seems to be a great add...temps are never hot or cold and it’s easier gripping. When I ordered almost a year ago I had the option to add a heated steering wheel but maybe lose the useless AMG knobs on the wheel. That might have been a mistake in the Netstar system but is worth checking the current config. if you decide on D+ and want leather. I gave my Dinamica several soakings of Scotch Guard for protection and after 5 months the Dinamica still looks new.

I opted for the 22's. Thanks for your feedback.

The 22’s come with highway tires that are subject to “tread compound cracking” at temps near freezing. Tire Rack has an explanation but if it happens the tires need replaced. Since coldest temps are early morning and if garaged it might not ever be an issue in St Louis. Mercedes tires might be different rubber but it’s worth considering. I have a neighbor with an Audi S8 that got new tires a little sooner than he planned.

Thanks for the heads up. It will always be garaged so hopefully we'll be okay. My wife really likes the look of the 22's and you know the old saying...happy wife, happy life!
