Lower profile tires on GLE?

Anyone tried lower profile tires on their GLE? I have 275/45/21 front and 315/40/21 rear tires on my 450 and was wondering if going with lower profile tires will improve the looks and handling? I know changing the tires will make the speedometer less accurate so that's one negative I can think of.

Possible sizes are 275/40/21 front and 315/35/21 rear.

Only MBs - the best or nothing
It may improve handling, but not the looks. In fact fender to top of tire gap will be larger. Also it will make easier to sustain possible pothole damage due to shorter sidewall (since MB is using SL tires in OEM sizes of 275/45-21 and 315/40-21, the load rating of tires you suggest - 275/40-21 and 315/35-21 - is identical since all/most of these tires are XL).

However, the proper way to go for lower profile in V167 GLE line is what MB did - 22" wheels with 285/40-22 and 325/35-22 tires.

Many downsides to that. I find the handling with stock 21 sizes quite good. Better to go with a Summer performance tire if you want better handling, but those are not necessarily matched to the suspension. As threeMbs says, wheel well gap will increase and look out of proportion. Not to mention ride quality.

I haven't done the research yet but I'd assume the GLS wheels can fit since both shares a similar platform. I saw the build guide on the GLS and they have wheel styles that are one inch bigger than GLE with the same shape:

Might cost a fortune though, but worth a try?

Is it somehow related to thread's topic or is a "new" topic?

Offsets are a bit more aggressive (11 mm front, 3 mm rear), but otherwise should be fine.
