What are 'fancy wipers'?

Quote: I talked with the service manager and he said that unless you have the fancy wipers the service plan is about the same as the regular charges for the scheduled maintenance. He said the wipers alone, though, made it much more reasonable as they (on replacement) could be close to $300.

edit: he did say there were two reasons to pre-pay, get that maintenance into the loan, and knowing that (aside from the attempt to upsell service) the scheduled maintenance is paid already before going in...
Yeah....time to watch a you tube video and learn how to change wiper blades yourself.

Quote: Team,

Purchased my GLE350 in October of 2020 and took it in for it's first service today and spent 1089.00 for service A at Mercedes Benz of Miami. Did I overpay for a glorified oil change? My service advisor advised me that Service B is much more expensive. Those of you who drive GLE350 how much did you pay for your service??? please note I am coming from Jaguar were my first three services were included with car purchase. Last car was a 2017 Fpace.
We also have a GLE350 purchased new in October 2020

Do you have white exterior color as well? We also purchased a 4-Year MB Premier Prepaid Maintenance Plan for $2200 which sounds like a great deal right about now.

Most people intend to keep the car through the maintenance period…but if you don’t it’s not transferable. And don’t believe that it makes the car worth more.

Please show us your invoice. Take a phone pic if nothing else.

Something's fishy here. Did you have a rooftop carrier or PPF installed? Crash damage? Only three posts?
Help us with credibility!

Oof looks like an AutoNation franchise. Also would you be comfortable sending page 1 to 3? Really curious what kind of oil being put in there. Thanks in advance!

Is there another page of the invoice? The only thing I saw was one very short line item with no detail.

Not sure how to upload and this make this bigger. Dealer did discount my uber each way that's why the total is $1025.00 and not 1089.00 as originally quoted.
I don't think anybody believes that you paid over a thousand dollars for an A service. This shot of the bottom line shows nothing. What else did they do to your car?
Did you have some damage repaired? Did you attempt a repair yourself and screw up?
Must be six hours there.
Show us that you're not just blowing smoke.
Why did you approve the $1,089 before the work was started? What did you approve?
How many times do we have to ask to get you to show the evidence?

$639.36 labour for an oil change is ludicrous unless more work was done on top of your Service A, I would think. If this is legit, I would honestly recommend going elsewhere next time!

If you zoom in closely and your eyes are wide open you can barely see second page with black writing on it. OP had more things done that’s why labor is so high.

You shouldn’t have to defend yourself for simply asking a question, IMO. Apparently no one considered that the Dealer might add some A service items in addition to normal Mercedes. They can charge for tire rotation and Firmware updates or anything else they might decide needs checked. I had a Lexus Dealer that wanted to pack the normal Service with extra’s so your situation is believable. There’s no call for bullying you even though the charges seem high. This is normally a more friendly group

As you can now see, this is an active forum. 41 posts in three days. Most asking for more information, and it's easy to see the frustration from your not responding.

To get the feedback you want on your issue, instead of feedback on your lack of response, just show the invoice. As you see, there are many who are interested in your post.

Show us the evidence to support your original statement - that you were charged so much for an A Service. Thanks.

I’m guessing OP was charged for a lot of unnecessary “services” to pad the Bill. — BG fluid flushes and the like.

Here is the most up to date list of what you get with the Mercedes Prepaid Maintenance that I can find. Since it includes Electric Cars it appears to be new.
At 10k a GLE 350 basically gets an oil change and fluid check/correction & new wipers. At 20k & 40k the brake fluid and cabin filter are added. Some/most AMG models get drive train fluid & filter replacements at 30k. The multi point inspection detail isn’t listed but might be a place a Dealer can start to add extra charges. If you are out of pocket on Maintenance it might be a good idea to decide on what you want done besides the oil change. Left to the Dealer, it’s pretty much open ended to do what they want and charge for it. They might bill at the same rate for a “Factory Trained” technician even though they use lesser qualified employees for some of the services.

Sorry to say, you seem to have been ripped off. You could have purchased your first 3 services when you purchased the vehicle for about $1700.00 . That would be an A- B-A service. On a 3 year lease you may only need 2 services and turn the car in just prior to the final service. Cannot understand how the money you were charged could be substantiated by the dealer. I purchased my GLE and the salesman told me to hold off from buying prepaid service. He will do whatever he can when I bring my car in. He is a real nice guy and has helped me out in the past. Using round numbers you should have been charged about $300 , you may want to contact MB customer relations and ask them to look into this, nothing to lose.
