What do those two buttons do that are at the back of the cup holders

I have two buttons just behind my cup holder. I press them an nothing happens. I called MB and they tell me they think it is for a cup release but that doesn't seem to be what they are for. Does anyone have any idea of what they are for and if so, how to use them

The cup holder springs can fold in, using a slider on the rim of the holder. I think the button releases them.

They are to release the the prongs for smaller cups or you can put them “back in” for larger cups. If you have them already out pressing won’t get you any release since they are already released.

We should probably create a sticky thread on FAQ's, that video is helpful. There was a picture with arrows on other threads.

My AMG53 Coupe does not do this. The buttons are for the cupholder heating and cooling. The spring loaded tongs fold in instead for larger cups.
