Does your Mercedes V8 use oil?
I’m just curious about the V8 engines since some competitor engines seem very thirsty using multiple Quarts between oil changes. Neither of my V167 Six cylinder engines used even a half quart in 10k. At least some Mercedes engines use a process named Nanoslide.
“The cylinder walls of the engine block are treated with a spray-in liner that Mercedes calls Nanoslide. This coating is designed to help reduce cylinder wear by holding oil in place thanks to its micro-porosity, while the friction reduction helps with fuel economy. Can't speak for the regular V8s, but the AMG 4.0 biturbo V8 doesn't or at least shouldn't, and yes it uses the Nanoslide technology. After about 12 years with Audis, it's refreshing not needing to keep a supply of oil in my garage anymore to top off multiple times between oil changes.

19 E63s, ‘24SQ8, wanting another gas guzzling V8
I had to add oil between service visits on our old 2010 E63 AMG. But I didn’t have a problem with our 2012 AMG nor now with our 2019 AMG. I haven’t had my current 580 long enough to even have to add much gas yet (first 3/4 fill up today) so I cannot comment on it.

I will have had my 580 for a year this month with only about 3,700 miles thus far (thanks COVID). As far as I can tell (based on the onboard computer measurement) no oil usage as it’s still at the “Max” level.
