Mobile Phone Stowage Compartment Dimensions

In case you were wondering if your giant new cell phone will fit in the "mobile phone stowage compartment," i.e., the thing in the front of the cupholders that allows wireless charging and NFC connection to the car, the dimensions are 7" wide x approx 3.25" tall. The "tall" dimension is approximate because you have to be able to tilt the phone in to clear the slidable cover, which sticks out a bit into the space.

(Yes, I ordered the giant new Pixel 6 Pro, and was worried after the fact if it would fit.)

Our Pixel 5’s are tricky to remove with one hand so imagine that the 6 Pro will be harder if it even fits. If you use a case like we do then the phone is even larger. Ironically my wife used the wireless charging on an all day trip earlier today and she was disappointed at how slow it charges. I had mine plugged in for AA, so after a half hour she plugged in to the USB port in the center console. Normally I use the charging space for my phone, tipping it upside down wired USB. We have Pros ordered too, so we will be looking for a better answer. It occurred to me that removing the sliding cover might leave a slot large enough for the phone or at least more space to use the wireless area for phone storage.
I have used the center storage cubby but usually forget my phone if it’s out of sight. We need both cup holders & dislike the vent types…
I just started looking to see what’s available, anyone have something unique that they like?

When I test drove a 2020 GLE back in 2019 I tried my Samsung Note 9 in the wireless charging holder and it just fit, When I took delivery of my vehicle it did not fit. The tolerances were that close. I just lay my phone partially in the slot with a short charging cable.

I have a Note 10+ 5G which is 162.3 x 77.2 x 7.9 mm , versus the Pixel 6 Pro which is 163.9x75.9x8.9 mm

I also have a pretty hefty case on mine which makes it about 166 x 82mm. The depth and height aren't a problem, but the width (82mm, or 3.23") is pretty much at the limit. I can squeeze the phone+case in but I have to push it a bit, and have to fish it out while it rubs on the edge of the compartment. But it does work, so I figure yours will be pretty ok unless you have an enormous case.
