2021 GLE 450 and the Lithium Ion Battery -20 degs Winter
I haven’t been through a winter yet. I’m in AZ now but by the time we are heading home back to Canada, the temperatures could be as low as -20 degs at night when in a hotel.
So,my question is aimed at those owners who live in the northern part of the USA or Canada and have been through a whole cold winter with this system setup. Was wondering how the lithium Ion battery held up? I read these batteries are suppose to retain their voltage better than the liquid acid batteries?
I also read somewhere you are not to charge a lithium Ion battery in the cold? I thought well, when you are driving down the highway, the battery is being charged by the 48 volt generator. Huuum! I think they were referring to cell phone batteries? I can’t see why even at home in the winter why you could throw a trickle charger on from time to time.
I was going to call the dealer at home but I figured you guys would know more than they would.
Appreciate your input.
