Just Ordered

Hi

Just joined the forum after ordering my GLE 350 4 Matic

This forum will be a good resource going forward for me as well as now while the order was submitted.

So went in on Saturday to see what they had, of course we all know they barely had any new ones.

Went ahead and ordered for June/July delivery- How truthful is this. The salesperson said she had 2 allocations/ ordered slots opened. Can someone explain? Can the MB get here earlier or the slot is what it s.

Built below:
GLE 350 4 Matic
859- Mojave Silver
135- Macchiato Beige
DA2- Driver Assistance Pack
DP1- Premium Pack
D11- Roof Spoiler Body Color
H22- Natural Grain Brown Walnut Trim
DG1- AMG Line Exterior
RZV- 20 inch AMG 5 Spoke Wheels
U09- MB-Tex Upper Dash and Door Trim
401- Heated and Ventilated Front Seats
443- Heated Steering Wheel
463- Head up Display
55u- Macchiato Beige Headliner
550- Trailer Hitch
846- Illuminated Running Boards
872- Heated Rear Seats

I also ordered Lighting Package, but today my salesperson called me and said that the factory does not accept (components missing) How truthful?

Also What do you all think? From experience anything I should add quickly or remove? Is there any way to track your built? like a website or database that shows your car has been built or in progrress etc? The salesperson told me that there is not.

Unfortunately, no. If you have a good relationship with your salesperson, they can send you PDF updates from their NetStar system.

ML 350, GLE350 on order
In early January I picked an open build slot and modified it as you did. It was for this week. Got the call today that it’s underway and will be done on April 2nd. So they’re on time from what they were scheduled for. Interesting, it is expected to take a month to get from Alabama to NH. Nothing expected to be deleted except the wireless charger. Don’t care though, they don’t work that well anyway.

Mine was scheduled for Feb 3 completion. Got delayed twice. Was supposedly completed today, so should have it in a few days!

The build sounds great. I had a 2018 GLE350 and now a 2021 GLE350. I didn’t get the running boards on the 2021, since my wife hated them. I don’t miss them, but some people love them. Good luck!

My build was presumably started when ,or close to when the VIN # was issued… early February… Message from dealer today was “car was started production but not finished.. probably due to missing components waiting for arrival” . Still expecting the month shipping times..after completion. So..expecting further delays. Car ordered in Sept, dealer initiated build when they calculated “likely” arrival in NE for May… Still waiting for hopeful news .

Congrats! Did you order to buy or lease? What kind of deal they're willing to do these days? APR, RV, MF?

Update….

I was quoted a additional dealer mark up of $10k…in Sept …negotiated down to less ..( when ordered)….market is crazy… looking around now..( March 22’) seems MSRP +/- 1-2%seems inline???.. or MSRP as is…… Not really an issue till you have the car you want in the location you’re willing to drive too? Good luck to all… I’m hoping to arrive in at a good comprise…GOOD LUCK TOO ALL,!

My '22 GLE 450 was ordered approx. Oct. '21. Came in March 18, 2022. Initially, it was produced 5 days prior to planned 3/1/22 build date. Then Mercedes delayed the GLE 450 til April. Went thru 3 builds as I had to change production date intially then ordered additional options.

I had a great experience with Chris O'Banion of Mercedes Houston Greenway. He is excellent to get hold of via text and any updates. There was no market adjustment on vehicle. They charged MSRP.

YES!!!

So was just informed today that the car will be here tomorrow or after tomorrow.

Now, onto pricing and charges and few questions:

1. Negotiate or MSRP. What do you all think per current market and the situation that is going on? MSRP $71240 plus tax, tags. Trying to avoid bogus "FEES" look at #4
2. Read multiple threads on here that are guiding people to avoid the prepaid maintenance when picking up the car, and buying it at Service Day if needed or desired (Read multiple horror stories, here "Non Transferable", If something happens you basically screwed.
3. Extended Warranty-YEY or NAY?
4. I am in New Jersey. The writeup shows me 1. Doc Fee of $599 (WTF) 2. NJ Supplemental Titling FEE (.4%) $284.96. Seems ridiculous.
5. Anybody has experience with MB Finance? Anybody knows the rates? I filled out on MBUSA just to see what I can get and it says it was approved and forwarded to dealer, now the dealer today said to fill out a different form to see. (Seems a little shady to me, that they will not share what I got approved for, should I call MBUSA Finance directly?
6. What else should I check for when I go and pick up? Any tips? Anything to look for in detail?
7. Read on another thread, that some options could be retrofitted if they weren't available at order or production due to supply issues? Lighting Package? Augmented Graphics?

Thank you all in advance, I hope I will be a regular here.

#5 Sounds shaky. I got preapproved by Chase. No extra paperwork when I picked up the car. They may not be using MB FINANCE.

Negotiate? That assumes you have some leverage? Not sure what that would be. Anyhow, have fun!

The lesson: ALWAYS get pre-approved. First, to make sure the rates you see are competitive, then to avoid extra paperwork if you want to take delivery the same day.

If they are going to deliver the car and issue temp tags, and you haven't been pre-approved, it's the only way to assure that they can get you (the Collective You) financed. It's common practice.
They will submit your Credit App to the first choice, but if there's an issue, will submit to other lenders until you get approved. This might change the rates or terms, but they are secured.

The alternative is to NOT take delivery the same day and wait until approval is secured.

I often take the in-house financing, which may be result in the lender paying the Dealer a "finders fee," resulting in a better bottom line on the overall "deal" (they discount the Deal, reduce the Front End profit and make it on the Back End). Then either pay it off or refinance with my chosen lender right away. I get the Back-End profit, not the Dealer.
