Augmented video up in the air...

Ordered a 2022 GLE63C4S today. The system took everything but dealer said Augmented Video can still be a no go anyways and they don't know until they get closer to the build date which is end of June. Anyone experience this on a recent build? I really want it as it looks like a great feature for only $350. For those who do have it - how you like it?

IMO it's worthless. Especially in heavy traffic, complex intersections or angled streets.
Good Party Trick.

From time to time, I give it a couple days to see if I can adopt to it. I DO get used to it, but still, it's inferior to the standard display, which shows intersections in an overhead view. You can see the angles, instead of just hoping.

The nicest thing about it is that it's easily disabled.

What do you mean by that?

It's good for showing cross street names and house numbers. But for basic navigation the standard map view and turn-by-turn instructions are more effective.

I would still keep that option even if it does not get added from the factory. Although my GLE is not an AMG model, I did not get that option and I found out after the fact that in order to have the full screen navigation map in the driver display I needed the AR package. Otherwise, I see the AR stuff as more as a gimmick.

That's a very good point. Lots of information here about the different chip set used in MBUX when AR is optioned.

Couldn't get it.

I ordered my 450 on November 5 and still waiting for delivery. I wanted Augmented Video to facilitate the Dashcam. It was eliminated from the order. Another item on the final order is passenger seat memory and features of the AMG Exterior package have been "revised.". So, final doesn't necessarily mean final.

Not sure about that "lots of information." It says you MUST HAVE the fancy headset or chip to have AR, but I don't, and I do. So the only actual reported chip, disagrees with that information. I'd call it a WAG.

Why do you say you don’t have the 549 version of MBUX then? My understanding is that you need that for the full sceen Nav on the instrument panel.

My confirmed build sheet says 548.
Either my build sheet was wrong, I don't really have AR, or the rumor mill was incorrect.
The only one I can eliminate is whether I have AR, and I can assure you that I do.

I'm not claiming to be an expert on this either, most of what I've learned about this is from sites like this. I did have a conversation with the rep we bought the car from as well, he has a GLS without the full screen nav and he wondered why; when he checked the build sheet from his car it said 548 and apparently he asked his contacts and they confirmed this was because his car doesn't have AR. But again that's just 2nd and 3rd hand. Maybe someone has a definitive statement or document from MB.

2021 GLE 63
I just ordered a GLE 63 and they accepted Augmented video. I have it in my 2021 GLE 450 and actually use it and I like the full screen nav in dash sometimes as well. Someone mentioned Track Pace which I didn't think necessary since I don't intend on racing the GLE on a track (is it good for anything else). I did add the Multi contour massaging seats as well, but waiting to se how bad my car prices out at.

The AMG model’s include steering wheel controls and some different AMG MBUX screens. You get the Track and suspension package standard. The suspension in Comfort will be more like your 450 in Sport mode. (I prefer it that way.) The Active Sway bars keep the vehicle flat in corners. Even if you don’t drive aggressively you will notice how it makes sharp curves better. There is less centrifugal force felt in the vehicle since more is transferred down vs sideways. There is no noticeable understeer! You get a lot more than a V8 in a good way, IMO.

I mentioned Track Pace because it might indicate that a 549 is not required to operate that more sophisticated app, along with AR.
But to your question, it also records 0-60, qtr mile, braking performance etc. And you can pull up your records and show the performance without having to do another dash.
