360 Front Camera Cracked Lens

Hello,

Noticed a Crack on my lens of the front 360 camera. I would like to change it on my own. I saw some instructions on the forum on replacing the camera but they were for other MB vehicles. I would appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction of a video or a set of instructions to follow. Also, I would like to use genuine parts. Anyone know a good website? All help is appreciated.

A word of caution, you may need to calibrate the system to that new camera for everything to work correctly. I know the safety features Predominantly use the camera behind the windshield but would assume Mercedes would take advantage of the camera on the front of the vehicle too. Point being, there may be more involved than just simply replacing the camera.

Thanks for the response. I was reading on the forums that if you shut off the battery for 15mins prior to removing the 360 front camera, you will not need to calibrate after rhe installation. It was confirmed by a few people.

I doubt that your "lens" is actually cracked. the Lens is a pretty tiny thing, situated behind a bigger outside cover. Is it the outer cover?
I'd do more research on calibration before I got too far down the replacement road.

I had a stone chip in mine, 2021 GLE 450 and dealer had to replace and use there computer to assign it to the system. $950!!!! 10k miles later and another small stone chip. I looked into doing it myself or have a indy european mechanic do it but my understanding is whoever does it needs to assign the camera to the system and have the Mercedes software to do that.
I fully don't understand this so has anyone just replaced the camera and started the car to see if it worked?

There is another thread that someone disconnected the battery for 15mins then replaced the 360 front camera and which avoided the calibration process. However, I recommend trying to find that post and asking if there was any future issues.

What's your insurance deductible? Should be a claim if you want to do it.

Agree that the camera lens is tiny, behind a clear cover. I was surprised to see a bug splash on my 360 view camera. I thought it would be the windshield, but it was the camera below the front Mercedes grill emblem. I'm not sure what it's use is, other than the 360 view. If that's all it is (no Distronic, no Traffic Light, no AR (?), no parking distance etc.) then calibration may not be necessary. I'd be curious to hear why calibration is needed on that one.

This came is used as park of the parking cameras. It comes on when I am Parkin gin my garage or close to a wall or parking sign in front of the vehicle. Mine is still used but looks like a bug is on it...from the stone chip on the lens. For $1k I am not going to replace it again...right now or soon.
