Was looking for small form factor no frills unit to have in case of accident dispute or to record something notable. That's all. No fancy screen, GPS, or parking mode, just basic always-on recording while driving. Don't even miss the larger Viofo that sits in a drawer unused.
It includes free cloud storage upload for 24 hrs in addition to storing footage on an SD card (not included). I used my 128GB I had on my Viofo unit.
Cable is nice and thin (micro USB on camera side to USB-A which I routed under the headliner and through driver side A-Pillar, under dash, to center console.
I just plugged into my Uniden RD USB connector for now. I might do a permanent solution later, but for the time being, this works fine for me. Had I not had the RD, I would have gone with a USB-C connector or adapter instead.
Just love the uber small form factor. Invisible from the driver's or passenger seats, at it's blocked by the mirror.
Even though it's "only" 1080P, footage is crisp and very clear, even at night (we just had a storm last night, so this is all the night footage I have).
I won't be reading license plates unless they are 15-20 ft away, but that's good enough for me:
Great picture quality from that unit! I need to replace my Viofo a129 duo from the previous vehicle with something for this GLE.... will look into this unit / add to my list to review. Thanks for posting.

You bet. My Viofo is also a 129 dual, which I had on my previous vehicle. Great unit but never liked how bulky it was. Also, having the humongous ferrite clamp near the connector and the thick cable was a non-starter for the GLE. I had a heck of a time routing that on my previous truck.
The Garmin is just so tiny that it disappears. That's exactly what I was looking for.
Nice, thanks for sharing. I recently installed one too.
I ended up routing the power cord to the rear passenger USBC outlet tucked in the center transmission tunnel carpet/trim. I had to buy a small USB to USBC adapter, but it works fine. You might be able to do the same for both items, even the radar detector, with a long enough extension cord and correct connector.

Ha! I thought about that also, and even measured to ensure it would reach. I just did not have an adapter handy. Glad to see that works. I may have to do this for a cleaner option.
I have been using this Blueskysea B1W capacitor dashcam on all my vehicles and already paid 1000x fold with regards to accidents and recording other accidents I encounter in the road. It is hardwired with a auto shut-off and I jimmy rig a backup battery for it so that it does not drain the car battery. It is very slim.
