Active Assist Functions Inoperative - 2020 GLE

2020 GLE 4Matic with Driver Assistance Package Plus had multiple ACTIVE Assist functions become sudenly "inoperable". For example, "Active Blind Spot Assist Inoperable" was displayed on the main LED panel. Tests showed that the standard "Blind Spot Assist" function continued to function. This indicated that the radar sensors still functioned Spent much time locating the battery and auxiliary battery since a failing auxiliary battery could possibly affect multiple active assist functions. Then I noticed that ther car had lost its audible "beep" when remotely locked. Trying to open the rear passenger door, the push-button for the door lock did not respond to the remote fob, nor to a hand on the handle. The door was tightly closed and there wasa no "open-door" display on the instrument panel. Lifting up the button allowed the door to open. Wasn't the child lock - wiggled it to be sure. When I now closed all the doors, they all responded to the fob lock as designed, and the audible "beep" was back. Amazingly, all the "active assist functions" were working again. The rear door sensor must be suspect, but how that impacted the active assist functions is a mystery. Making sure all doors respond to the remote as designed is easy to try and may save a lot of headaches regarding the complex "active assist" functions.

It might be coincidental with the door. The other symptoms are similar to mine and others with the camera housing Outgassing and clouding the camera lens.

Thanks for the info but dont think it was the camera. The car tracked the road edges OK (Lane keeping assist) even when other "active assist" functions were inoperative. I am guessing that the problem was related to an interlock safety system that sensed that the "locked" back door was not fully functional. Maybe a software bug? All works fine again. A very complex system with all the "assist" functions. Will keep your experience in mind but hopefully will not experience it.

It never had any noticeable affect on drivability…just got the messages, some that didn’t seem relevant to a front camera.

I had another unusual situation that threw error codes, apparently caused by my 12 volt battery. The battery didn’t die and doesn’t start the car so it wasn’t apparent that it had an issue. It wouldn’t hold much of a charge overnight but the MBUX screens would still light up. The one thing that helped the Tech identify it as the battery was the auto leveling function. I noticed that after driving a few minutes the car would adjust the front vehicle height. There is a stoplight close to home so when stopped it was very noticeable. They kept it overnight, after charging it first, to satisfy Mercedes requirements for a replacement.
Like you said…these have a lot of electronics and a glitch can be hard to find. In 3 years I’ve had my touch to unlock fail several times. After using the Key Fob to unlock it doesn’t happen again for months.
