GLE450 Build

I am planning to build a GLE450 with build date October second week. I have few question before finalizing the build for GLE 450.

1.Wanted to check if the Airmatic suspension is a must or can be ignored. Also if happen to decide between the color black & white with Expresso brown/Gray interior which one is the best with the AMG package as well.
2. Is the Exterior AMG package better or the night AMG package is better.
3.Is the Ventilated Seats worth as I read in many posts that they just not that effective and little Air flows into the seats ?
4. Does Expresso brown/Gray interior looks good with Aluminum with Longitudinal Grain. Or any other Trim should be picked.

Thanks

I passed on the ventilated seats in my GLE build after getting them on my C63 and not being happy with them. The air is not cooled in any way, and despite the ability to enable the ventilation and the heating at the same time, they aren't that useful to me. Others may feel differently but I never used the function in my C63.

I misunderstood the "ventilated" seats to be cooled seats, as I had experienced with pervious vehicles. Boy was I wrong! This is just a fan pumping the cabin air through the seats, at whatever temperature the cabin is at. It does help to have the AC on in the summer, as you can feel the difference; but it is minor.

Good luck on the interior. I LOVE the espresso brown, but it was not available when I ordered mine last September. I have often thought about it, but could never decide which color exterior I would want with it; probably black.

I have the AMG exterior night package. I wanted heated steering wheel, but couldn't have it with AMG interior.

1. Airmatic is desirable, IMO.
2. Totally an aesthetic decision - whichever you like.
3. No experience with the ventilated seats, but most say they are not that effective.

For me the ventilated seats are pretty weak compared with other cars. In the recent heat wave we had here in the South West I used it a few times and more than once checked to make sure it was actually on.

Agreed. It is the worst implementation I have ever used on any vehicle. Had I known how poorly they performed, I would not have ordered them. The only time you ever feel it is when initially turning it on. Let's not even talk about how it cycles on and off!

For my GLE 350 build I passed on the ventilated seats because all they do is move a little air from them and over time the perforations in the MB Tex or leather will get clogged. I ended up going with the AMG line interior with the MB-Tex/DINAMICA seats and I love the seats and the sporty steering wheel. I think the AMG line interior complements the AMG line exterior and/or the night package nicely. Also the AMG line interior only comes in black and the leather option might have different colors, but I do not recall.

For the AMG line exterior, it is your preference whether you want the accents to be aluminum/chrome/bright or if you want them black. My GLE has the AMG line with the night package with the Obsidian Black Metallic paint and it looks stunning. With black exterior I think they both look great. With white exterior I think the night package will make it stand out better over the regular AMG line exterior.

Thanks, Also to add one more question does Expresso brown/Gray interior goes better with Aluminum Longitudinal Grain. Or any other Trim should be picked ?

Im not 100% sure, but I saw the brown/gray interior with the carbon weave trim when I first saw a 2020 GLE and it looked nice. But it is not my cup of tea. I have the aluminum trim in my GLE with the AMG line interior and that trim contrasts well with the black and it matches the steering wheel nicely too.

You should view website of local MB dealers and checkout photos of inventory. You will probably find the combos you are contemplating and probably have a better idea of they look like.

To add to that, also check out Autotrader and find other dealerships selling new and used ones. You will get a good idea of how they will look over time and how they wear.

My wife absolutely loves the ventilated seats, and I have to admit I do too. I added to build with no prior experience with this feature and will be a must have on any new vehicle (according to my wife). Came to appreciate it on day-long drives in 90+ degrees.

Agree. They may not blow out a candle, but they also don't sound like a Hoover sitting in the backseat, like some cars.
I found them quite effective especially when you enter the car and you're hot and sweaty. Or on trips so you don't get hot and sweaty.

I don't know of any car that connects their ventilated seats directly to the air conditioner, so I'm not sure why people are complaining that they're not cooled.
Ours sucks air directly from the area of the underseat AC outlet - cooled air.

To address another concern, I ate a very crumbly snack, resulting in a seat full of tiny crumbs. I thought, well that's it for my perforations. But even after sitting on them for another couple hours, they cleaned up with a sweep of a hand. The bigger problem was the creases, which are there whether you have ventilation or not.

IDK about this year's orders, but the memory function that requires you to get ventilated seats is more important to me. I'll take them both, thank you!

I had a 2011 Lincoln MKS that had cooled seats. Actually pumped A/C through the ventilated seats. It was great. The only drawback was that when you exited the car, you felt like your pants were wet; although, they were not.

When I looked at the Lincoln about 3 years ago, they showed me that it worked the same way as Mercedes, drawing air from the under seat vent. Things may have changed though, and it was a brand new model, so they might not have been fully up to speed.
I was more impressed with their sound system though.

Another advantage that Mercedes claims with their ventilated seats, is that it hastens warming with the seat heaters on. My wife, who almost always uses the seat heaters, agrees.

I agree. It had an amazing sound system. Beats BMW Harmon K and my GLE Burmester, IMO.

I will have to try ventilating with seat heater on - thanks for the tip.

Edit - Oops - forgot I have rapid heating seats,

When I ordered our 22 GLE450 SUV last summer, the airmatic and 22" wheel options were not available. However, we do enjoy our Ventilated Seats down here in South Florida. Had them in all of our MB's. Good luck with your order.

Airmatic must

I say airmatic is a must and soft closing doors - I bought it without on recommendation from the sales rep and what a mistake. It’s a sponge. Next car fully loaded. Maybe the only option I would skip is the sand help suspension that bounces. I hate it how soft the car is now. To be honest I hated so much with the regular springs that I went to change the car and was ready to buy another one after 2 months (I don’t drive it often / wife’s car ) I was told they don’t make the colour any more, metallic blue (dark blue). The only reason I didn’t change it.
