Winter wheels
Looking at RWC winter wheels on Nokians
275-50-20 on 20x9 et45 all around
The stock AMG wheels are 20 x 8.5 with 53 and 42 offsets on 275-50-50s snd prefer not to use them in our harsh winter with lots of salt
the retailer said they should fit fine and all systems would work ok
The alternative are MB original winter wheels but much more costly
Does anyone have experience with this?

I had a very similar experience, I had some tire dealers tell me 20" would work but could not guarantee they will clear the brakes. That wasn't a risk I was prepared to take .... The only guaranteed fit was your option 1 which is what I did and have been immensely happy. I've had it out in rain, snow and sleet and despite the less than ideal size of the rears, the car handled perfectly with the Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires. Absolutely no regrets and the car still looks decent.

My reason for wanting 20" winter wheels is that the roads in my country are not perfect and you cannot avoid hitting some potholes, especially during winter time and because of this, I would have liked to have more "rubber" for winter.
I guess you cannot have it all, I wanted bigger brakes now I have to get bigger tyres

Edit-As the et gets smaller the wheel moves farther from the brakes. i.e. et 51 to et 45 moves about 1/4” out from the hub.
