Hitch Plug . . .

I'm usually active on the E63 forum as thats what I drive but I just picked up a '22 GLE350 for wife and I was hoping to find an answer on this forum. I am curious to find out where i can get a hitch plug to connect the lighting off my enclosed trailer. Looking at the plug close up its like nothing I've seen prior as its a 6 plug with a center pin. I have not been able to track down any vendors offering a workable connector and I haven't been able to find any previous discussion here. Has anybody found where one can find a plug so I can connect my traditional, straight 4 pin trailer connector? Figured I'll have to go through the dealer to get something but thought worthwhile to ask others for possible options unless the item I found on Amazon would work?

You can buy a 7 pin connector to a pigtail connector at a local U-Haul store.

You can also order one on Amazon. Looks like Walmart and AutoZone sells them too.

If you have LED trailer lights there is one with a resistor to simulate incandescent lights. At least this used to be necessary. Here’s what I used in my GLE. The 5 pin also works with a 4 pin flat.

I am interested in this. I am planning to use a bike rack and cover the bikes while on the rack to keep them protected from elements (ebike). Doing this will cover the rear lights of the GLE so I am thinking of adding trailer lights on the bike rack. Any help on where even to start will be great.

You might check a bike shop to see if there is something already available. If not it shouldn’t be too hard to make something like a trailer’s rear lights.
1. Plug mentioned above
2. 4 pin flat male connector available at Auto Parts store/Harbor Frt/Amazon and a little bit of wire to connect to the lights in 3..
3. Buy a trailer type running/stop light like you find on a trailer. You will need two lights with a bracket to attach to your bike rack. Amazon or an Auto parts store???
4. Mount the lights on the rack and use a 12 volt tester to determine the ground (needs to go to each light. Then use the turn signals to determine the left and right hot wire for the turn signal/brake light…the 4th will be the running light feed that needs to go to both lights. Hopefully the lights you buy have directions to show the wire schematic. Normally white is ground and black/red are hot .
‘If you are handy and have the parts to join the wires and pick the lights it should be easy. Electrical can be confusing.
Good luck-interesting project.
