32k service outside MB Dealership

Anyone else tried getting their GLE 450 serviced outside Mercedes dealership like pep boys or any other auto care facilities ? My car is pending 32k Service and I would like to give it a shot so that I can avoid paying huge amounts for their service.

your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I got a quote for the B service from an indy shop, same price as the dealer had quoted me over the phone: $550-$600.
I went to the dealer for the service and found out the car had one last pre-paid service the previous owner had paid for, that
and free Haagen-Dazs ice cream at the MB dealer, a great day...

I would not take it somewhere like PepBoys or to a quick lube place. There is a good Quick Lube place I use for my wife's Pacifica, but not my Mercedes. I would find a good independent shop that knows/specializes in German cars and take it there. I wouldn't take any car I own somewhere like Pep Boys...

Even something as simple as an oil change they can destroy the car. On ClubLexus right now there is a member who had their IS serviced and all the oil drained out and ruined the engine. It was likely a cross threaded oil filter canister cover or something. Find a quality shop, it will benefit you once the car is out of warranty and you start having to make repairs yourself.

Yeah no Pep Boys or Grease Monkey or anything like that. Being in the PNW there's a good wealth of options for German / European independent shop who has all the tools and close relationship with local dealer for parts so they can get OEM parts quickly.

You're driving an ~$80k Mercedes-Benz. Do you really want to save a few dollars to possibly void your warranty if there is an issue down the road?
