No AppleCar Play with wireless charging?
Historically I’ve connected my iphone bu usb cable. But I’ve been using a mounted phone holder whereby the phone is held in against a charging pad (the cable from the pad plugs into the usbc port). But no I’ve discovered that apple car play doesn’t activate….ugh. Has anyone had better success

If you want to use your charging pad AND carplay, plug the charging pad into another USB port, then plug the phone into the USB port meant for carplay/android auto.
You can also get a wireless carplay/android auto adapter.
