The "one guy" is incorrect. The Mercedes extended warranty is an "inclusionary warranty," meaning that only the "named included" parts/systems are covered.
OTOH, an "exclusionary warranty" covers everything that's not expressly named as Excluded.
In most cases, an Exclusionary plan covers more than an Inclusionary plan.
Unfortunately the Mercedes is an Inclusionary plan, although coverage is more automatic.
There is a list that is included on the extended warranty. The ELW is not a new car warranty by a long shot but if the bad part affected a part that is not covered by the warranty they will replace it (ei. A module pulling too much power from the battery and killing it. The module will be replaced plus the battery). This happened to me before under ELW coverage.
Like others have said, the Mercedes Benz ELW is an inclusionary policy, below are the covered components. Inclusionary policies are seen as "2nd Tier Coverage" in the extended warranty world, and you'd be better off with an exclusionary policy (similar to factory warranty coverage). Compare the ELW inclusionary coverage vs. our extended warranty provider Fidelity's Platinum coverage exclusions for their exclusionary coverage, if it is not listed in that paragraph then it is covered.
