Question Best Engine Oil 229.52 for GLE?

From the list
https://operatingfluids.mercedes-benz.com/sheet/229.52

Which one is the best for normal daily usage with minimal wear & tear of engine... regardless of the price?
Looking for 5W-30, but not sure which one is the best?

Details of all different Oils & Brands: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...fKxeVtXt6HPpgg

There is no best. You are in North America so Castrol and Mobil 1 should be available, those are both good brands for German cars requiring full synthetic oil.

I prefer Mobil 1 when I can find it, but substitute with Castrol with no concerns. I have 400k+ miles on VW, MB, Porsche and BMW engines running these oils with no issues

Also their must be most durable oil for cooler part of country?

Any on the list are good. There are no bad ones. There are no better or worse oils, provided they meet the specification and are on the list.

Avoid the temptation to overthink this.

When you open your hood and look down on the plastic trim, there should be a decal. Please post a photo of it.

I'm always a Mobil 1 fan, but trying to find MB229.72 was in Luqui Moly only. Amazon has it so easy decision for me.

I heard 229.72 is not good, unless you only drive during winter months & not enough lubrication. You save on gas, but more engine wear & tear.

You are comparing between 229.71 vs 229.72
Not 229.52 vs 229.72

Yup I understand that. I was just answering his question.

"I heard 229.72 is not good, unless you only drive during winter months & not enough lubrication. You save on gas, but more engine wear & tear."

Is it worth going with Mercedes OEM oil vs these approved brands?

If the price is the same at the dealer, you would be indifferent. It's the same oil, different bottle. If the price at the dealer is more than $0.01 per liter more than AutoZone's price, it's not worth it, by the amount of the price difference.

Oil is oil as long as it meets MB standards. Avoid the temptation to overthink this.
