2020 MB GLE 350
Pre-Warranty Expiration Eval

Wife has a 2020 GLE 350. Has been OK (other than the absolutely horrible/unsafe transmission performance which a reflash has not remedied). Factory warranty expires in November (has been CPO'd for another year). Before the original warranty expires I plan on having the dealer review the vehicle to make sure and document anything that may be an issue going forward. For instance I recollect someone having an issue with bad shocks. I notice a mild clunking which may be something or simply the vehicle takes bumps differently than my vehicle and there is nothing wrong. I am doing this with the goal of having documented any possible issues so MB will address them if they become a problem in the future. I have the CPO warranty until Nov of '24. Not sure if I will keep it beyond '24. I would appreciate any thoughts on any problems that are regularly seen on GLEs or the GLE 350 in particular.

Thanks.

That's SOP for me, with any car that's near a warranty end. For exactly the reasons you mentioned.

Good practice.

Typically dealers will only respond items you flag as issues; they won't go looking for things that are not on their standard multi-point inspection list. So note any specific things, documenting as many details as possible. I got a new head unit and 12V battery when my 450 went out of warranty this year.

I don't know if reporting things that aren't problematic is a good tactic.

Being aware of potential problem areas is wise, but reporting someone else's issues isn't likely to get a thorough investigation.

Throwing it against the wall to see what sticks, is only useful with spaghetti. 🫤

I had a documented history of issues with the battery over a year period. Unless you have the same checking, while not a bad idea, is unlikely to yield any faults.
