Opinion - GLE arrived with defective wood trim. Dealer said they an replace the wood trim. Would you still want a vehicle that the dealer repaired prior? The vehicle has not been purchased yet.

Ultimately it is your decision but if that is the only issue and there is no other underlying issues or problems with the vehicle I would. However if you are not 100% happy and the vehicle does not check off all the options you need then order or locate a new one. Keep in mind if you order one it might take 5-6 months from order to delivery.

Being as trim is pretty superficial and easy to replace, I wouldn't have a problem with that.

I haven't had a chance to test drive or really checkout the vehicle. My other issue is how ridiculous the rims look on the wheels - 19 inch. Would they change the wheels to 20 inch? The only rims for the 19 inch are what you see. It looks cheap to me.

IMO the 19s are a little small for the vehicle, but at least it looks like they've increased the tire size on them. However, I doubt they would do a swap with another vehicle. If you are in a location (add to your profile) where Winter tires are desirable you could use the 19s for those, and get 20s or 21s for some good all-season/Summer tires. If you watch the Marketplace or check around you may find some take-offs for a reasonable price.

Why are you asking us? Only the dealer can answer that, but I suspect not. That is the only OEM 19" style currently available

No bother; it’s just you won’t get a meaningful answer here.

I personally prefer the AMG appearance package it also comes with either 20 or 21 inch rims and depending which region you live in I’d be looking for all season tires. I doubt the dealership will swap out the rims unless you pay extra but there’s plenty of inventory out there now you can locate a similar truck with the rims you want don’t settle unless you’re 100% happy.

Good to know. Our 63 has the same streaks. I never questioned it but I did wonder. Today it is getting the third out of the four seat covers replaced. The stitching on the diamonds has failed. Every seat except the driver seat. Weird.

I have the running boards on my W166 and W167. Looks wise, they are great. Love the look on it, plus helps when I’m washing the roof. My now 10 year old daughter and friends like it to get in and out of the car and glad I have them on both of my cars. For the bad part - It does suck in the snow they get filthy and the back of your pant lag gets dirty over it.

To me they are just a cosmetic addition.
They serve absolutely no purpose other than help when washing and drying the roof. They are not wide enough to safely step on them nor the truck high enough for them to be effective.
That said, I've had them an all my ML/GLEs as it makes them look better in my opinion.

Helpful when loading/unloading skis, or whatever else you might want to transport on the roof rack. That's the only time that I actually step on them. They're not really easy to use for regular ingress/egress.

And stepping over the occasional slush or puddle when parking curbside. Otherwise useless other than aesthetics.

I "try" to use them in hopes of saving the seat bolster. Definitely so narrow I have to be very conscientious. If I step "over" it tends to rub the back of my calf. We put front mudflaps (the ones molded for the running boards) to keep it from collecting so much dirt as the front tires are wider than the fender.

Please post some pics of the mudflaps. I don't think I've seen any with the running boards.

The original thread https://mbworld.org/forums/gle63s-gl...sh-guards.html. I recall that in the thread the poster said the front fit but the rear did not as they had purchased a set. I only wanted front so I purchased one that came up in the similar results. I did hold the rear ones up and they sure look like they will fit and it did look like the rear would require drilling and screws to install so they are stuck somewhere on a shelf. I did not want to drill any holes. The front fit with just removal and reinstallation of the factory push pins. I am unsure what was different with the set the poster got or the vehicle difference as to why what he had received for the rear would not fit. Very inexpensive so I gave them a shot and am pleased well enough.

GLE 450 Black on Black

What does everyone think of a Black exterior, black seats, natural grain grey oak trim and black liner on a GLE 450?

That is what our GLE 63 is. Night Package. Microfiber headliner and steering wheel as well. I like it but the black exterior only looks great a short while after washing. Dust, pollen & dirt show on the black exterior much more than it did on our previous white 450 with the AMG night package trim. The white 450 had Macchiatto and natural oak. Wife decided it was "too bright" inside and bothered her eye so we went with all black and grey oak as we hoped it would not refelect like the carbon fiber.

My 450 was black/black, my 63 is black, I tried to spice it up a little with the red interior and it looks amazing. I really tried to like a different color but kept coming back to black.
