I took delivery of my GLE450 in June. Made a 6000 mile roadtrip with the car and it is now approaching 8600 miles. My wife received a text today from the dealership informing her that we have a service appointment in 2 weeks. Are these cars automatically making service appointments now?

 

The greedy dealership just wants you $$$. I had the same thing on my BMW. They just texted me saying brake appointment is setup. Called them and asked what thats about? OO we saw your mileage and set a time for your convince. GTFO.

 

The vehicle will prompt you to schedule an appt once you're nearing 10K miles or one year of ownership even if the vehicle isn't close to 10K miles. That's just how these vehicles are programmed but I do agree that approx. 8600 miles is a bit early. I suspect that since you're rapidly approaching 10K miles so quickly in such a short time is what "prompted the prompt". LOL

 

Well I can tell you in this area you NEED to schedule that damn far a head if you expect a loaner...

Well the car is due for a 10k miles pretty soon, so the algorithm kicks in with that pattern that within 2 weeks, you should hit 10k. Did it ask you to make a service appointment, or did it already schedule it for you? On mine it only told us to schedule it.
