Acoustic Comfort Retrofit
I am wondering if it is possible to dealer retrofit the acoustic comfort package. I will be taking GLE450 delivery this month and I am kicking myself that I did not get this package on my order. How much would it cost if it is retrofitted?
Though I am also taking thoughts on acoustic comfort package. If anyone got reasons not to apply them, I do want to know why too.
I plan to do mostly city driving ~30-45mph with occasional highways.

The car is still very quiet without the acoustic comfort package. I hear more tire noise than wind noise. If it wasn't available, I doubt anyone would miss it. I think the bigger advantage may be in the solar heat blocking. A window heat shield would probably be even more effective. The acoustic windshield blocks toll transponders and radar detectors if not placed in the proper location.

Well, I'm the proverbial "Prince(cess) and the Pea" when it comes to noises in the car, so every unnecessary sound drives me mad. Nearly anything to reduce NVH is worth it, to me.
That said, while I believe it is possible to retrofit, with various insulation applications, laminated glass, etc., I just couldn't stomach paying the dealer labor invoice, when I know I could've had it installed so much cheaper at the factory.
Given these personal afflictions, I would cancel my order and re-order another GLE with Acoustic Comfort Pkg.
This is, of course, my opinion... The only subject on which I'm truly an expert.

I agree that the standard car is very quiet.
However, there is more to the Acoustic Package than glass insulated and IR resistant glass.
There are acoustic materials added to wheel wells, interior panels and elsewhere. I see it near the rear fuse box, where I store gloves, additives, etc.
Tire noise is very muted.
I think I'd wait.
Along the same lines, I also wouldn't pass on the Burmester HD option (my biggest regret).

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I will proceed to take delivery of the vehicle and get a sense of it before I decide on retrofitting.

I don't think retrofitting will reach the desired leve of silence.
The side glass would be the only accessible retrofit that would make a difference. IDK if they'd make 30% of the difference, or 70% My thought would be closer to 30%.

Following up on this thread, I will choose not to retrofit acoustic comfort because it feels much quieter than my familys toyotas. I have taken a test drive of the GLE 450 before purchasing, so I listened real closely before I purchased. Lots of compliments from my family so I am happy now with my build as-is. Thank you all for your response!
As a side note, is there a possibility to raise the turn signal sound? My mother is paranoid at me not using the turn signals even though I already turned them on at the intersections!!
