Why are there so many polar white base GLE 450s

We are negotiating on a GLE 450 Polar White $76000…..why are there 3 or so on each dealers lot? Salesman said MB gave them these…does that cause an issue? They are polar white with exclusive package and the 20” multi spoke wheels …..I prefer the AMG wheels but husband things these are fine. Any thoughts?

Here is an example

Dealer has to predict what car will be sold on their lots. So they usually go with the "safe" option rather than overloaded expensive options. Car colors that are white or black with modest amount of packages are more easier to sell than lets say a red-colored fully loaded vehicle. Every so often (maybe once a month), dealers will get allocations on how many of each models they can order.
Now here is my assumption, GLE 450 is not sold as often as other models, so they tend to be of a more safer builds rather than a unique one.
If you are insistent on a custom build, try custom ordering a vehicle at your dealership. Although you will need to wait, if you have the time to spare, it is definitely worth it!
I personally placed my custom order on the fourth of july and just received my GLE 450 a week ago! Emerald Green and fully loaded. Runs really well, I love it! I just got ceramic coating and ppf done at my detailer. I can't wait until summer when I can bring it out and see the paint to the fullest potential under the sun!

Accirding to the Internet where everything is true, MB and other high end brands lease out about 60% of their vehicles. So in a year's time, or 2 or 3, those cars come back to MB. Many are sold at auction to MB dealers who turn them into CPO's. Vehicles that have colors other than the "German Rainbow" (black, white, gray) presumably are harder to sell as they need a buyer looking for a specific color. That's how I got a very good deal on my 2014 Cinnabar Red GL450 in 2017. It had been sitting on the lot for 2 months. Also, there is the impulse factor. You get psyched up to buy and you want it now. "Safe" colors (or the actual absence of color) don't get in the way of that impulse.

we are purchasing….I just wish it had the star five spoke wheels….maybe i can negotiate that. Thank you for your response. The emerald green is so pretty if you are a green person. I’m LSU and my daughter is Baylor so I cannot go all in for green!! Also, husband is really happy on the basic options.

That makes sense….it seems they all got allotted two or three of these particular builds. I mean it’s a fabulous car. I wish the wheels were more black like the five spoke star to make the black panels around them make more sense.
As for red, I love red. The new red ones seem to be the perfect hue of red. So tempted. White is just the cooler option in Texas heat! I guess they build these for shoppers like my husband. The interior is gorgeous. I will be switching from an older X5. I also like that the GLE did better in the crash tests than bmw. Thanks for your help.

IMO comfort is why there are a lot of polar white, it gets really hot almost all 3 seasons in the states most people rather have the car not absorbing heat, other colors are pretty cool to look at but heat is a major factor in decision

A friend of mine said dirt in texas is white!! That’s why is easier to keep a white car clean. Also, when it’s 100, nothing is worse than burning your bum on black seats and waiting for the oven to cool down

Black cars are harder to keep clean pretty much everywhere and swirls show like crazy.

These are a spec that MB chose and allocated out. At the beginning of a new model or refresh these would be “showroom units”, the first batch of regular production cars built and sent out to dealers, but MB has continued to build these showroom unit specs later, just with whatever build slots aren’t already filled with a dealer or custom order, and then are allocated out. So yes, there’s probably 100 GLE450s in that exact config currently for sale around the country.

Exactly this. They are from the first batch of refreshed MY24 GLEs. MB had a handful of identical configurations that shipped out before the dealer configurable allocations. We have two just like this right now.

I too ordered the Ceramic coated Emerald Green loaded. You’ll find the best of both worlds driving. In the sun it’s an awesome ultra dark green. Yet, at night, it appears to be pure black. I’ve received many complements regarding this color.

It appears that they're contnuing to build and allocate some of these "showroom unit" like specs even as they've also began building configurable allocations. As there aren't just these $75,XXX configs in the vin number A965XXX-98XXXX, but also the vey recent build B14XXXX zones.

Emerald green FTW. But to answer OPs question. White black and grey are "safe" colors. That's why most vehicle are ordered in them. Just take a look at the parking lot at the mall next time you go. Overwhelmingly devoid of color.

Respectfully, dear friend. I did not invest money into a “safe color.” I ordered the color and other amenities that I liked and wanted. In as much as, when my lease expire, I will give it back to Mercedes, and the next fella can pay for the extended warranty and all other financial troubles associated with pricy repairs. As I previously stated, our families are important to us, but cars will come and go. The only two cars I loved was my mercury Turnpike cruiser and my Chevy Monte Carlo SS. What was your favorite car?

Agreed 100% I ordered the color I wanted because I wanted it. I tend to keep my cars for 6+ years so I don't really care about the resell hit. favorite car is either my old 2001 4runner (that thing just wouldn't die no matter how much I punished it) or my 2016 M3. But I'm quickly moving my 2022 M4 up that list.

Respectfully back to you, you're responding to a comment relating to the thread title, which is: why are there so many polar white cars. Not "Why did @papa buy a green car." You didn't even tell us the color of your Mercury, which is fine because this is not about your car. Sorry.🙂

They're still rolling with the Cirrus Silver AMG 450 "showroom unit" as well. We just received a third one yesterday.

You sir have wonderful taste. Beautiful color.
May I present to you my GLE in Emerald Green, also ceramic coated minus the PPF.

It is truly a chameleon. On grey days it is basically black. On sunny days you can see the emerald green pop depending on the angle you are looking from.

You need to be comfortable receiving compliments when getting this color as everyone surely will approach and approve..
