Cost of replacement passenger window for GLE 2024
Hi family!
I wanted to check with you all about the cost of replacing the passenger window on a 2024 GLE.
I got a quote from my dealership in New Jersey, and the total comes to approximately $2,537.14. This includes labor ($1,267.50), tax, and other fees. The OEM window part itself is $1,030.00.
Do you think it’s worth getting the window replaced at the dealership, or should I consider going to an individual specialist? Let me know your thoughts.
Thank you, and happy July 4th, everyone! 🎆

If you are going to pay OOP, go to safelite.com and you can get an instant online quote. Pricing for a drivers side window with install is coming in under $300 for the standard glass (non-acoustic package glass).
I've had glass replacement on my wife's Porsche Macan S done by Safelite in the past and have no issues returning if I need glass replacement in the future. Replacement of side glass, will require the door panel removal, clean out any debris, replace electrical connections, replace panel, nothing very complicated that requires dealership IMO.

So, for the windshield, sure, 3rd party is usually fine and how it's done in most cases.
For the side window, as somebody mentioned above, you need to remove the door panels and some other parts to get to the it. I wouldn't trust glass companies to do it properly. Even if they do, imagine something start malfunctioning after it and your warranty claim gets subsequently denies because a 3rd party messed with it. Your car is still under warranty and it requires the repairs to be performed by trained and authorized personnel.

If you're to keep the car for the warranty period, I'd go the dealership route and get a quote from a few dealerships in the area to see if they quote you less hours of labor.

It's ultimately up to you. I had a chat with an independent mechanic owning his own MB oriented shop. After fixing MB cars for about 30 years working at the dealerships, his schedule is booked for the next 6 months. However, 99% of the cars he touches are out of warranty and his advise was to use dealerships for in-warranty cars due to liability, proper record keeping and better manufacturers support.
If you're to keep the car for the warranty period, I'd go the dealership route and get a quote from a few dealerships in the area to see if they quote you less hours of labor.
