Well, the wife called me last night, and she has a check engine light on in the 580. She called the MB dealer where we bought it, and they scheduled for next Monday. She said that it is running just fine. The SM told her it was ok to drive if check engine light wasn't flashing, I said no, I told her to just drive your back-up ride, her 2011 Nissan Armada. Is there any way to pull any error codes off it? It has ~7,000 mile on it.
Thanks in advance folks.

Safe to drive as long as the light is not flashing.

Did the CEL return after the car was off and locked for at least 20min? I once had a CEL around 25,000 miles and simply locking, going to lunch, and coming back the CEL never reappeared. A few days later I took it in just to be sure and the Dealer said no codes were thrown either. I haven't had any issues since then.

It's still an OBD system and the codes can be read with an OBD scanner. That said there are thousands of codes so the results may not be anything you can take action on or make sense of.

Any OBD scanner plug off Amazon or local parts store.
Also local car parts store will be able to scan it for you and get you the print out of the codes free of charge 5 min job.

Right, that’s what the check engine light does. I had the CEL on for months. It was a charger port issue. It could be hundreds of things.

As mentioned above, codes can be read. If you are not a DIYer, make sure that you only READ the codes and do not ERASE the codes. This way if the code does not come back after being cleared, the mechanic will have the proper info. In this case, the code you read is to confirm the mechanic is not taking advantage of you. If youre a DIYer, buy either xentry or a Launch Creader Elite MB scanner to point you in the right direction for the repair. It's important to remember that almost all check engine lights turn off once the repair is complete and the car recognizes there is no longer a problem. Unless cleared, that would stay as a stored code and will help you see the history of issues when doing future repairs.

IMO, unless you are under warranty, find a well respected indy mechanic and save yourself bundles of money. My local indy for heavy lifting is about 110 an hour vs MB at "I think" 290ish. combine that with OE parts vs MB brand and the savings can be enormous. Just make sure the indy offers a similar warranty to their work that MB does. MB has one of the longest warranties on repairs so sometimes that is worth the extra cost. If you want genuine MB, there are plenty of places online to get discounted parts, and on the slightly more expensive side, FCP euro has a great parts selection and one of the best warranties out there.

We are under warranty, and it appears that the gas cap was loose...

Wife drove the 580 last night and she loved it, (she wanted drive a MB car, just to see if she liked being in a car again after 11 years in her Armada, so the dealer hooked her up with test drive in an AMG C63S. HQ didn't like sitting lower than the 580, cool car though, so her she is, I only got 1 picture, as I was doing the wheeling dealing. HQ has more and I'll post them when she sends them to me.

Super excited to learn all about this new SUV!
I am leasing a 2025 GLE450. I like it. Main complaint was rough transmission downshift from 5-4; dealer fixed that with software update. The easy entry/exit steering wheel setting sometimes switches itself off; I have to go into the menu and set it to on. I do miss the compass MBs used to come with (to get one displayed now you have to be in Navigation, and I prefer to leave my central screen on Radio so I can easily go between my preset stations with a swipe on the console touch pad. I also wish they offered a wider range of colors -- I got Emerald Green, which looks black unless the sun is on it, but it was that or some shade of white/black/silver/gray or thousands for an optional color.

As stated before, the software is still a work in progress. The easy exit/entry gets turned off. Sometimes, when I tap my profile, the seat and steering wheel don’t move. I have to tap my wife’s, then me again. Sometimes the steering wheel moves into position before I start the car. I’ve also had it display a different radio station than the one playing. Always interesting.
