So this isn’t the screen showing the cruise control . This simply shows the distance in feet the car is in front. It will increase and decrease accordingly. Seems to have no real purpose other than to provide an option under that suite of screen choices It seems the engineers needed a fill and this was the easiest to program
This is the Driving Assistance view. It shows you what the car's systems see and what it's doing when DISTRONIC and Active Steering is active. On this screen it will indicate things like that it sees the car ahead of you, when automatic lane changes are initiated or rejected etc. Basically it gives you insight into the Driving Assistance brain of the car. If none of the systems are active, then the display is pretty useless.
