MB Connect Renewal

My Mercedes-Benz Connect subscription is expiring later in the month. I received an email reminder to renew, so I went to the website. Despite moronic UI and it telling me I have no current active subscriptions, I found to place to add a year's service to a cart. It then tells me it will credit the balance of the current term to the new subscription. I called MB Customer Service and they told me that's how it works and the new subscription will start today and expire a year from today. They said the only other way to do it is to wait until it expires to renew. I don't recall this happening in the past, and I know I've renewed early and the renewal just gets added onto the current term. Does anyone have any insight into this? Is it truly the way this works now? It's hard to believe that it's 2025 and this is the way M-B operates their services.

If that's what they told you, that's how it works.
I'm not surprised, MB software and software services is awful.

I get the impression that they changed this indeed. Previously the website showed the expiration date of each individual service. They no longer do that, so I'm guessing they now all expire together at the end of a year. The previous approach of adding 12 months to the existing subscription actually caused my services to have various different expirations, because when I initially subscribed, not all service started on the same date and back when they had the a-la-carte option, I didn't subscribe to all services such as Remote Start, but then when they changed it to all or nothing it added Remote Start with a different expiration from most of the other services. I actually let my subscription run out back in September and haven't renewed it yet. The main idea was to align all the expirations, but sounds like I don't actually have to do that and can just renew. Still debating, though, if I even wanna renew. I'm just not driving enough these days to get enough value from it and I can just use CarPlay for navigation.

Interesting, thank you. I never realized the services were a-la-carte and had different expiration dates. I've pretty much just renewed out of habit. Maybe I should really look at what we use if anything. It's my wife's daily driver, but she only averages about 7,000 miles a year-it's at a place we occupy only seven months per year. We never use MB navi, always Waze, Google or Apple.
