Wheels

Hi guys, I have a '16 GLE300d that comes with 19" wheels. Does anyone know if the R22 wheels that come on the GLE63 S will fit on my car or not? I have searched and find nothing.
Thanx!

19 E63s(wifeys) & a 21 GLE580
I would assume they would fit. The GLE63 (non coupe) has 21 and the GLE63 coupe has 22 and since there are close to being the same vehicle, I think they would fit.
I'll watch for someone else to chime in since I'm looking to fit bigger wheels too.

i did this on my 2012 ML350 few years ago, i put the AMG ML63 21" wheels on and had no issues. the ML is still a W166 just like the new GLE so i am sure you won't have any issues.

Do you have access to the new wheels? Specs are stamped on the back of them. Bolt pattern will definitely be the same. Pull off one of your wheels and see if the offset is the same (or close) as well.

I changed up a little to try and maintain a good ride. New wheel choice is AMG five spoke that are 21X10 with 50mm offset and 295/35/21, which is what comes on the ML63 and GLE63.

GLE Coupe 350d
I did a research about fitting larger wheels on our GLEs and the conculsion is that you can definetly fit the 22" on the GLE Coupe and the 21" on the SUV GLE .
All the wheels have to come from exactly the same type of vehicle, in your case, i suppose it's the SUV , so the maximum you can go are the 21' fitten on the AMG models.
For the GLE Coupe, although they sell the 22" only toghether with "adaptive curve system", this is only because of marketing issues in my opinion, it has no technical back-up.

I don't think this is quite correct. If this were the case, no aftermarket wheels would fit.

In choosing new wheels, going larger or smaller, the key factors on "if they would fit" are the bolt pattern, offset, and tire size. Bolt pattern is the most basic, get it wrong and they wouldn't physically mount to the vehicle. The offset you want to stay with the same as the wheels your came with. Tire sizing is easy to figure out with any of the many online calculators. You want to stay relatively close to the same overall height so as to not have any rubbing or throw off your speedometer.

A good example is that many use the 21" AMG wheels from the GL550 on the ML/GLE but w/ new tires. The wheels fit fine but the X166 uses a taller tire than the W166.

Nice ride chopprs. I out some 22" on my gle350 and fits fine. No rubbing. Current setup is Modulare B18 with 285/40/R22 tires.

Use a tire calculator to find the tire size.

Larger wheel will have a tire with shorter sidewall giving same outside diameter.

That's exactly how it works. You'll notice that when a vehicle is offered from the factory a choice of optional 18, 19, and 20" wheels, the tire size also changes. Look at decreasing aspect ratio (middle number) as the wheel gets bigger. The 18" wheel and tire together will have about the same outside diameter as the 20" wheel and tire. When upgrading wheels on your own, you follow the same guidelines, hence no need to adjust the speedometer.
