downshift shudder/rumble/stumble
gle 350-4m. on the automatic downshifts, i feel a "double" shudder/rumble/stumble (forgive the descriptor). it is most prominent on the 4/3 downshift, but i am now detecting in all downshifts to a lesser extent. if you drive a standard, i can say the feeling is akin to when you re-engage the clutch on a downshift.
as i posted in my original follow-up, when i visited service, the tech rode with me and indicated that it was part of the operation and related to the clutches resetting. during that test drive, the response was very subtle. the vehicle was sitting and off for almost 1/2 hour while i waited, and i now can say that it is more prominent after driving for a while. so the tech didn't feel the full force.
i've continued searching around and have listened to the MB video on the 7g several times. they do include a reference to engine braking assist via the clutches.
it all does make sense, but i would still like to hear if others have noticed it. fyi, i'm a very light braker, so that may be why i really feel the 4/3 downshift. i tried some hard braking and it does kinda get lost in the sauce, so to speak. appreciate any info. ron
I may bring into the dealer soon and have them ride with me.
I'm also interested in other's experiences.

not really worried as i have never had a problem with mb or my dealer not owning a problem, even past warranty.
the explanation makes sense, but just like to hear others noticing it. thx, ron

that said, the downshifts are still smooth, but the "bang" reappeared in January. significantly notable in stop and go traffic as you give a little gas. i'm going back in shortly when the normal service comes up. i didn't get a chance to speak with the tech as to exactly what was done, but we'll deal with it shortly.

Thanks
the "bang" is also a sensation up the steering column. it does feel like some kinda of re-engagement. imagine a driveshaft taking half a rotation before the differential engages. not that that is what it is, just an example. the truck's a 4matic so it could be from anywhere. i saw in the manual a "glide mode" that disengages the whole trans from the engine. guys here said not on my model, but that also would appear to feel like the bang if the re-engagement isn't synced correctly. we'll see in a bit. ron
