Trunk + Brake Light Gone

Hello,

Today, I had to bring back from the store a large trash barrel, which I put in the back of my W166, with the seats folded down. I got home, and noticed the trunk would not raise automatically. Pulling the handle makes it release, but it won't go up. I pulled it up manually and took the barrel out. I got back in the car and started it up to see if the front seat button would open the trunk. It was then that I noticed putting my foot on the brake causes the instrument cluster to say "Check Right Rear Brake Light." The light is also out. The lights on this car happen to be on the trunk. I'm thinking that in putting the barrel in the trunk, I might have damaged something, or pinched a wire, since it is weird that both the trunk and the brake light would go on the same day. However, the light inside the trunk door still comes on when it is open, and putting the car in reverse still deploys the back up camera out of the trap door it sits in inside the trunk. I do not see any damage, scraping, or anything of the sort in the trunk, and the wires that are exposed look fine. Power to the trunk is not completely lost, but something is wrong.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

It's an electrical issue. The GLE's have been having issues. Go to your stealer to have it looked at.

Okay, I'll bring it in. I haven't heard of issues with this car. Is it really that bad?
