Thoughts on my first Mercedes-Benz
I recently took delivery of my 2016 GLE 350. I built my car on-line then ordered it from my dealer. The things I didn't get and wish I had:
Parktronic
I talked myself out of it to add the LED lighting package. While I love the LED lights (my wife's first comment of course, "How much is that going to cost to fix?"), skipping out on the sensors was a mistake. I'm ok with the à la carte pricing Mercedes has, but wrapping what should be a standard feature in with something I would never use was frustrating.
3-Zone Climate Controls
I didn't think this was necessary, but if you would like to sync the driver and passenger sides, it is.
Ventilated Front Seats
The jury is still out on this, if this feature was available with MBTex I would have gotten it, but as it is, you have to have leather seats to get them ventilated and I didn't want leather seats. I plan on keeping this car a long time and I didn't want to mess with the cracking and constant conditioning/care.
As far as my car purchase goes, the two dealers where I live, Memphis, were over $6,000 more expensive than the dealer I ended up going with, Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead Atlanta. Russell Dunn, my sales guy was super helpful as well, very responsive, buying a car over the phone was so easy! I'll be doing that from now on.
I ended up getting my extended warranty from Erin Mahre at Mercedes-Benz of Santa Rosa. She was super responsive, very helpful with my questions and the price was great! My experience was that there were two types of dealerships. One type would only deal $100 off MSRP, the other type was super aggressive for the contract and wanted to compete for the business. Erin was the latter.
Overall I'm pleased with my decision and the buying process I went through. I look forward to driving it until the wheels fall off.
