Broken Down GLE63 (with 6200 miles) :-(
Hey guys,
A bout of bad news sidelining my AMG GLE63 ... while cruising south on 91 (Connecticut USA), I was going about 65mph and suddenly I lost response from the gas pedal. With no response, I put my blinkers on, and moved lanes to the shoulder. No throttle response. Car was on, engine and lights.
Upon stopping on the shoulder of the 4 lane highway, I turned the car off and waited 60seconds. I then started the start sequence (foot on break + press push start). The car fired-up but never turned over and fully started. It sounded like it wanted to start for 3 seconds but would just drop. I tried this a few times.
Symptoms: stalled while driving | starts but doens't fully turn over. Electric works. Everything looks normal. Under a 1/4 gas tank, with 72 miles of range.
Perhaps bad gas? Perhaps the gauge is broken and I was empty. Perhaps fuel pump. Dare I suggest alternator? Or bad battery? (2016 GLE with 6200 miles).
Ill report back on the cause and solution so you all have the info handy in case it happen to you.
----------
REPORTING BACK WITH RESOLVE / SOLUTION: Electrical problem with the gas reader. Car was out of gas. Reader system said 1/4 filled and 72 miles of range.
So for those driving long distance, keep an eye on your gauge. If you are in an AMG and it isnt dropping like a feather in a vacuum - something is wrong :-).

Most of my drive is highway on cruise control. Gas isn't terrible. BUt when I light up in Sport+ I can see the needle drop.
Regarding an update on my truck, North Haven Benz in CT replaced a fuel gauge on one side. Tested the truck yesterday. They then discovered a second fuel gauge was also faulty (they said the truck has two tanks which I did not know).
How could two be faulty at 6200 miles? Don't know.
Worse, when fixed it will be 3 hours north of me. Meaning a 3 hours up, hour to get the car, and probably 2.5 hours back. Losing days of life on this benz. (3rd electrical issue since purchase that has brought it in for service)
But sport+ is sorta worth it :-)

That's what I've been talking about with the decrease in quality control with MB. Its a shame you have to go through this with any new car, let alone one that you've paid over $100K for.
