E43 AMG
Just test drove a E43 AMG. I thought with extra 30 HP and Torque, the car will "feel" faster. But my GLE 450 coupe (the new GLE 43 coupe) actually feels faster. Takes off quicker. E43 did not give me the "jerk", "push" to seatback feel.
Sales said it may be that E43 has a smoother transmission. Could that be true?
The car is nice though. Carbon interior Trim, AMG steering wheel, AMG logo on the speedometer, AMG logo on the seat. MB really mades it a baby AMG vehicle, unlike the 450 AMG line a year ago.
I haven't yet driven a "true" AMG car. Back when they were more reasonably priced (in the 80-90k range for E class), I would consider getting one. Now they are around $110k! I would rather get a Porsche 911 or Panamera S even that the AMG has better performance.

I do agree the E class is getting outrageous in price but I feel that's what MB wants. They have introduced so many lower end cars; CLA, GLA, and of course now these "fake" AMG cars. Therefore by introducing more entry level cars they can push their higher in cars higher so MB enthusiasts will pay more and then they get more younger people hooked on their cars at a lower level. (Kind of like the Disney theory.) But one thing I have been noticing is that more of the higher members on here are getting upset with the watering down of the brand, AMG and MB overall, and now talking about going to a different manufacturer. I've also noticed more younger members loving the GLAs, CLAs, and new V6 AMGs. So MB maybe getting what they want and only time will tell.
Or maybe it's just inflation?

But same thing with Porsche. You used to be able to get a 911S for around 110K. Now they are around $135k.
