Topstitched Dashboard Trim
Does anyone with a GLE SUV or Coupe presently have this feature or have ordered it for a vehicle yet to be delivered? On mbusa.com it's listed as "Topstitched Dashboard Trim". However, in the dealer Ordering Guide it's listed as "MB-Tex Wrapped Dashboard", Option U09. I was told it's been backordered for over six months and they have no idea when it'll be restocked.
The name is deceiving. It does NOT refer to the stitching on the top of the dashboard. That stitching is standard on all models. The stitching is on the face of the glovebox door, and the wraps around the sides and bottom of the center console, where the HVAC controls are. See attached pics.

Dash stitching
I think this is standard on GLE 400 and GLE550 and option on the 350. Look on this site and a person who just purchased a GLE550 has pics of his. Maybe he could help.

Topstitch refers to the style of stitching, not the location of the stitches.
Option U09 covers the top of the dash, as well as the glove box and the rest as you've mentioned.

Thanks guys. My primary concern is more the backorder issue than the style/location of the stitching. It seems crazy that this would be on back order for over half a year. What's going on at MB?

Well... you asked. There is a limited # of U09 that can be produced... and 90% of that availability is going into the luxury models where it is standard...only 10% (or so) is available to "upgraded" other models..
That said - your dealer can "trade slots" with another dealer in same region that has a order slot allocated the upgrade.. more work for the dealer.. if you "gotta have it" as a upgraded then worth the work..
