Wheel spacers

So my gle coupe came with the 21" amg rims and I kinda wanted a more aggressive look. So I installed a set of 10mm wheel spacers all around and I think I got what I was looking for.

Did these come with "longer" wheel bolts to compensate for the extra depth?

I actually bought the spacers separate and then the bolts. The oem bolts were 44.8mm and the new bolts I got were 55mm. The install was painless and there is no clearance issues at all.

By adding spacers, you effectively change the "track" (distance between the horizontal centers of the left and right wheels on each axle). I'm curious to know if this will affect how features such as AIRMATIC, Crosswind Assist and Active Curve System perform. Also, what about wheel alignment? Would this affect the wheels' ability to stay aligned?

I don't know the answers to these questions. Just some food for thought.

You are absolutely right. The wheel base was extended but 1" all around. Since the install I've put about 600 highway miles on the car and haven't felt a difference in performance or noticed any issues in witch way the car drives. All the systems that you listed still work as advertised. Lane tracking and curve assist use cameras and sensors to keep you in a certain position while driving. And as far as wheel alignment there is no need since I didn't alter the camber or ride hight of the vehicle. One of my last cars that I built and altered with the ride hight and suspension I've had to do a wheel alignment. Since on the gle I only did spacers it's really harmless to the car.

I wasn't necessarily thinking of "harm" to the car. I was more so wondering if the modification would alter how those features perform. I guess what I'm asking is how would you know if those features are performing exactly as intended.

It is indeed changing slightly the geometry of the suspension. This will mostly affect the angle the car computer thinks the wheel is at, but only at extreme ends of the travel (either suspension travel or steering travel) so indeed, I doubt one can really feel the difference in terms of safety or car behaviour. However, by pushing the wheel further from the steering axle (axle around which the wheel turns when the steering wheel is at an angle), this will slightly increase the reactive torque from hard acceleration or braking. This could be noticed as an increased amount of "jerky" movements in the steering wheel under hard acceleration or braking, especially on wet roads for example.

Looks great! I was wondering if you have a photo from the front or back to see how the wheels are sticking out of fender flares. I would like to put spacers as well but was thinking about 15mm on all 4 corners.
Thanks!

I also put spacers on my GLE coupe. If I remember correctly, I did 10mm on the front, 20 on the rear. Has been about 9 months now. no issue with 4matic or airmatic that I know of.

Yes I did. I just measure the stuck bolt length and order 10mm and 15mm longer bolts.

I actually just got mine from Ebay. I think the seller works with screw machining shop to custom make them. got two pairs for about $150.
Have them on for about 9 months now. No problem at all.
I did the same thing 3 years ago for my 911S. Also no issue.

With 10mm front and 15mm rear spacers are your wheels flash with the fenders or still inside the fender flares?

Perfectly flash. I originally had 15mm front and 20mm rear. The rear is ok, but the front looks like it sticks out a little. So I put the 15mm in the rear and order another pair of 10mm. Sorry, one of the forum member asked to take some pictures. I meant to take some, but kept forgetting. I will go out to the parking lot now and take a few.

Im from the GL X166 section, my vehicle is a GL63 and I want to install spacers but when asking a local supplier of reputable brands he suggested Id need to check the hub lip dimension first, was this a concern with the GLE too?

Im thinking 10mm in the rears, probably H&R brand and will get extended bolts
