I've tried a couple ways, but I am clearly missing something. When I park, if I just want to shut the car off, how do I do that without opening the door ?
For instance, I drive over to school to pick up my son and sometimes I have to wait in the lot until he is done with baseball practice. If I want to just turn the vehicle completely off and sit there waiting, how do I do that ?
I've tried to hit the button more than once but that doesn't work. I have done it with my foot on the brake, but that just starts the car again.
What am I not doing correctly ?

only push it once. the engine will stop but the power remains on for a bit or until you open a door. also, see the discussion on shifting when turning the engine off. vehicle shifts to neutral NOT park. good luck, ron

I know one press of the button turns the engine off, but the radio, etc still is on. How do I get everything to turn off without opening the door ? If it is raining outside, I don't want to open my door if I don't have to.

My last car did the exact same thing. They called it "Retained Accessory Power". Power stays on for a few minutes in case you need to operate any of the electronics. If you don't want or need that, just open the driver's door. If it's raining, you don't have to open it completely. Just crack it. I never let it go through the full cycle because I considered that a waste of battery power, preferring instead to open the door.

I was just messing around with it the other night. I pulled into a parking spot and pressed the button once to turn the engine off and left the radio, etc still on. 7 minutes later they were still on. I didn't want to push the reserve power too far, even though I'm not sure how far is too far, so I opened the door to turn everything off.

i really don't think you will have a problem. super low draw. i used to let it go while waiting for a school pickup. once it went off, i would just turn on aux and keep going. i've never had a problem with any car using the radio with engine off (but i don't leave it go for hours on end). ron
