2017 GLE 350 Chrome Handle Insert Installation
1. Planning on putting on some chrome handle inserts - manual says to apply rubbing alcohol on the area where you apply the inserts to clean the area. Is rubbing alcohol safe for the paint?

Yes the alcohol is safe, it will not hurt the paint. It is critical for the two way tape to have a clean surface to stick too. I put these on mine and used the alcohol and it worked fine with no damage to the paint.
In fact I have used alcohol to prepare my Mini cooper for hood stripes and it is a good prep to make sure the surface is clean.

Yes, the alcohol takes off the wax to give the tape a good area to stick too. I would recommend taping around exactly where you want to use the alcohol and/or just waxing that area good after applying the chrome inserts.
