Theft Deterrent

I picked these up a week ago. At first, I was looking for regular "Security System" stickers. I stumbled across these, which I thought were a lot better. How many times have you heard a car alarm blaring and ignored it? Knowing the vehicle is being silently tracked via GPS is a much better deterrent. The adhesive is on the side with the "lettering". They go on the inside surface of the glass. I installed them on top of 40% window tint. With white lettering against a clear background, they're noticeable, without being too conspicuous. They measure 1.18" x 3.42" (30mm x 87mm). The price translates to $5.59 U.S. dollars (including shipping) for a pack of 5 high quality, vinyl stickers. Shipping from the UK to the U.S. was 7 days.

By the way, this is NOT a ruse. If you have Mercedes Me, you have GPS tracking via the "Locate Vehicle" feature.

Wow! Pretty sophisticated stuff. That's in the UK. Let's hope that technology isn't available in the U.S.

That car could still be tracked using Mercedes me.

You can disable your smartkey's transmitting feature when you MUST park the car outside overnight for some reason - just to be on the safe side.

You're right. I forgot about that feature. I always park in my garage, but they could use this device anywhere in public. All they'd have to do is watch you park your car and then follow you into a restaurant, shopping center, etc. Then, just clone your SmartKey's frequency and return to your parked car.

Thanks for posting this!

Deactivating and Activating SmartKey -

If you do not intend to use a SmartKey for an
extended period of time, you can deactivate the
KEYLESS-GO function of the SmartKey. The
SmartKey will then use very little power, thereby
conserving battery power. For the purposes of
activation/deactivation, the vehicle must not be
nearby.

1. To deactivate: press the "lock" button on the
SmartKey twice in rapid succession.
The battery check lamp of the SmartKey
flashes twice briefly and lights up once, KEYLESS-GO is deactivated.
2. To activate: press any button on the SmartKey.
