Auto door lock with keyless entry - GLE400 2016

Hi Folks,

I have the Keyless Entry feature, does that negate the auto door lock? I've noticed that my doors don't auto lock when I return to the vehicle. I have set the doors to auto lock but they still don't lock after I exit the vehicle.
Thx for any help

There's no autolock function when exiting or entering a car w/keyless go. You must touch the sensor on one of the outside door handles to lock the car and touch the inside of a handle to unlock.

I thought that might be the procedure. I just thought that the Auto would have worked when i exited the vehicle because the option "Yes/No" appears on the Settings screen and I chose Yes to no avail.

I've always thought it would be cool to have that feature though. To where when the fob gets so far from the car or it loses its connection with the car that the doors automatically lock. That would be cool and keep me from pressing the lock button 4-5 times and listening for the horn everytime I walk into the store!

I hate those horn beeps when I lock the car from the outside. They're downright embarrassing.

Fortunately, I can turn off the beeps in the settings (2018 GLE 43)) while leaving the headlight flashes activated to confirm the lockup.

You can also control how many doors you wish to unlock. 1 click can just unlock the drivers door and 2 clicks all of them. There is a setting for that on all Mercedes.

Here is a workaround if the horn beeping at locking really bothers you...
Press the unlock button on the key fob AFTER you exit the vehicle..
( Yes, I know it sounds counter-intuitive)
If you do not open the vehicle door within approximately
40 seconds of unlocking and the key is no longer in sensor range--
the vehicle will lock again automatically.
anti-theft protection is reactivated.
See if this works for you.

Yes that will work and is a great idea but it has nothing to do with the key fob still being in range. Great idea for noise pollution remedies! Now if I could just get mine louder so I could hear it when I check it from inside the Celine Dion concert.
