Has anyone done an XPel clear front protection on the hood area? I'm curious what a good price would be. I was quoted $995 for just a small area on the front hood.

You can go on the Xpel website and see prices for all of their kits for your specific vehicle. There's a "full" hood kit and a "partial" hood kit. The partial hood kit only covers the front edge, about 18 inches in.

I had Xpel on my last car. This time around I decided to go with Llumar Platinum. It's very similar to Xpel. Both are self-healing, have a 10-year warranty and cost the same. But the Llumar has the addition of hydrophobic properties. In plain English, it repels water. I wrapped the full hood, side fenders, mirrors, front roof & A-pillars, front bumper, headlights and top edge of rear bumper.

I have xpel installed on all my cars before delivery. Great stuff, wouldn't have a car without it.

I forgot to respond to the cost part of your question. I always have the entire front end of my cars covered with exception of the hood which I just have the the front 18-24 inches covered. Cost is usually around 1K depending on the car. It is well worth the price as I had a Lexus LS460 for 8 years and the front end looked good as new when sold.

A gaggle of MB's
Your quote is a bit wacked...

1st - "hand-cut" gives better coverage than pre-cut kits - and for experienced installers handcut is to their advantage - rather than a excuse for upcharge. $1,000 should get you about the entire job - front nose with coverage back about 25% of the front hood/fenders - side mirror coverage - and front/rear quarter panel slices for dirt/gravel kicked up by the tires.

2nd - it's a top quality install that you are looking to get - with a top quality film - Xpel or Lumar or 3M or DuPont have solid paint protection films. Hand-cut can get you better install - or for some installers they take pre-cut dimensions and adjust out edges based on experience - you don't want to have worry about edges when you are focused on smooth/flat install working around body curves...

Keep the beat !

We had Xpel installed on our 2019 GLE. Cost was $995 and that included partial hood, partial front fenders, entire front bumper, side mirrors, A-pillars, all door edges and all door cups.
