Eco Start Stop - has anyone succeeded in defaulting to Off?
Fellow GLE owners,
I have a 2019 GLE 400. I'd like the Eco Start/Stop to default to "off" instead of "on" each time the car is started. Has anyone had success in finding a way to accomplish this?
First off, please don't post replies like "it's only one button to push" or "how lazy can you be?" or "why would you want to turn it off?" For my own reasons, I do want it turned off, so the purpose of this post is to determine if anyone has actually done it. The debate as to why or why not do it will remain for another time and place.
My efforts to date are as follows:
a) Contacted the local dealer. They won't change the default setting, no matter the reason. Period.
b) Contacted M-B USA. Same answer as dealer.
c) Purchased an OBD plug from OBD Genie. (link to OBD Genie ) The vehicle wouldn't even recognize or acknowledge the OBD plug. Dead end.
d) Went to a local independent M-B shop. They tried to access the programming to change the default setting. They were stumped after 30 minutes of trying. Another dead end.
e) A company called Mid City Engineering sells a device for this. But it involves tapping in to a wire harness under the dash and I'm not willing to do that. So a no-go there.
There's a guy named Vladimir on E-Bay that sells an OBD plug for this. (link to his E-Bay listing is here) I'm hesitant to buy one after my experience with OBD Genie. Has anyone purchased this device from Vladimir? If so, did it work on their GLE??
Before I give up completely, are there any other ideas or devices I can try? Thanks in advance for the help.

To follow-up my original post:
I decided to purchase the Start/Stop OBD device from Vladimir on E-Bay. And I'm pleased to report that it worked!! Installation was a breeze. No issues at all.
