Dual USB adapter off the same USB port as the Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

I'm wondering if anyone has installed a dual USB adapter so they can connect an iPhone cable as well as an Android USB-C cable in the same port that activates Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. I don't plan to use both cables at the same time, however, would be nice to not have to swap cables depending on which phone was getting connected up CarPlay/AA (Wife has an iPhone, and I own and Android phone).

Any alternative solutions, if this isn't an option.

Would this work? I don't have the problem yet but I may go back to an android sometime and my wife will keep her Apple which will create the same problem.

I have been reading as much as I can on this. Now I understand that a powered USB Hub will NOT work either.

My android takes a USB-C connection. I've heard talk that Apple will be moving to this, I guess I just need to wait.
